Holiday Party Games for Children
Games play a vital role in the society and should therefore be
encouraged particularly for the growth and development of a child. What
fun would it be for kids to be on holiday and have no games to play?
There are several holidays in the calendar of any given country of which
kids may use this opportunity to have holiday party games.
On St Patrick's Day, children may either hunt for the shamrock or play
the three legged clover race. Hunt the Shamrock has great similarities
with Treasure Hunt. However, unlike treasure hunt which gives clues to
an ultimate prize, the children here are required to hunt for as many
shamrocks as they can. They may be hidden inside or outside the
compound. Gist may be added to the game by having a special shamrock
hidden and a special prize is awarded to the child that finds it. The
three legged clover race is similar to the three legged race where kids
are paired together by tying the ankle area together and racing on a
track collecting shamrocks with the first pair across the finish line
winning.
Easter is a great opportunity to increase your child's memory. Eggs are
usually the trademark for this holiday. You may get the children to play
a game entitled, 'Guess the Color of the Egg'. This game is not just fun
but accommodative since it’s simple to accommodate the very little
children. All you need is a basket of eggs of which a different color is
assigned to each egg. Let the children sit in front of you and instruct
them to shut their eyes. Pick out an egg from the basket and have the
kids guess the color. Fun may be added to it by dividing the teams into
two halves or boys against girls.

During Halloween, children may flamboyantly showcase their choice of
costumes to each other. This may be in form of a fashion show. Awards
will be given to the scariest, most stylish and creative. Similarly,
with the use of either real or fake pumpkins, have the name of a child
written on each pumpkin of which each child is required to find the
pumpkin that has their name on it. This is an involving game which
children will love to participate in.
Think of Thanksgiving and the thought of turkeys pops up hence, theme
the game around turkeys to make it more relevant. Apart from turkeys,
thanksgiving creates images of Native Americans and pumpkins. Have the
kids paint pictures using crayons, pens and stickers. Each child's name
should be written at the back of their picture and using the stickers,
have them pin them up on display. When the party is over, the child may
take his picture as a remembrance of the fun filled holiday.
Christmas is yet another good time to bring family members together.
Have children sit in a circle and play a list of Christmas carols of
which the children must guess the name of the carol.
