Fun Party Games for Children

It is important to keep children engaged with fun party games and this calls for a lot of attention and creativity. A well articulated schedule may come in handy to involve and entertain the children without having them get bored. A fun party game for the children is that which will keep the children busy while still having fun like musical chairs. Here, chairs are lined up but one less than the number of children playing. The music plays as the kids circulate

around the chairs. When the music stops, each child should occupy a seat. The child with no seat is eliminated and a chair is removed. The game proceeds until only two children are left with one chair. The winner is the one who occupies the seat first and awarded accordingly.

Blindman’s Bluff is also a good game in that it is easy and its requirements are minimal. All you need is a play ground and a blindfold. A child's eyes are covered using the blindfold and he is span around three times as the children find a suitable position to stand. The 'blindman' is then meant to move around in search of a child to touch. The children are however not allowed to move but can cunningly contort their body to avoid the touch of the 'blindman'. The first child to be touched will automatically become the 'blindman’ and the process repeats itself.

Gossip calls for passing of information by word of mouth. This game requires at least six players to make it interesting. The children are lined up vertically and the first child is handed a piece of paper bearing some information in sentence form. The child is required to memorize it before they can whisper it into the next child's ear. The information is then passed from one child to the other until the very last child who then becomes the first to reveal what they have just been told. It’s not reward based but rather fun filled with humor as each child’s revelation brings out a different outcome of the original text. This game is particularly recommended for children whose communication skills are minimal. The game is also known as Broken Telephone.

Do the Opposite requires that you have a list with words such as raise your left hand, shake your right thumb, scream, hop on your right foot among many other instructive words. The aim of the game here is to exactly do the opposite of what you are being asked to do. Those that fail to do the opposite are automatically eliminated leaving the last child who is then declared the winner of the game.

There is no greater way to add thrill to a game than by implementing teamwork. The jigsaw puzzle is one such game. However, it still can be played individually. Using pictures from old magazines cut them into tiny pieces forming a jigsaw pattern and place them in separate boxes. The winner is the team or individual that completes the picture correctly.
