Birthday Party Games for Children

Birthday parties for children are fun and they are good avenues for the children to play and entertain themselves. In case you are holding a birthday party for your kid and have invited children to the party ensure you have these games in place so as to turn the party into fun and pomp.

Catch the Balloon

It is played indoors and requires about four or five balloons. Arrange the children into a circle and let them number off. The child who has the highest number stays at the center and becomes the 'IT'. The game is played with the 'IT' holding the balloon and calling out any number while dropping the balloon on the floor. The child who has the number that has been called tries to get hold of the balloon before it is put on the floor. If the player manages to touch the balloon then 'IT' calls another number. If he fails then that player automatically becomes the new 'IT'.

Buzz Bomb Balloon

This game is best played in teams and each child is given a balloon that is not inflated. Each team can have a different color of the balloons. There should be a target at which the players will direct their inflated balloons at when they are given the signal to do so. The closest balloon to the target earns five points whereas the direct hit gets fifteen points.

Poor kitty

This game involves blindfolding one player and placing him at the center of a circle. The players then move around the circle so as to change positions. The blindfolded player then secures a player and who then in a disguised voice says 'poor kitty'. If the blindfolded child correctly identifies his captured prisoner the two change positions but if he fails to identify him he is released and the game continues.

Twenty Questions

In this game one child becomes the 'IT' and is allowed to leave the room. The rest of the players choose one object in the room. When 'IT' returns to the room he is required to guess correctly the object that has been selected by the rest of the players. He does this by asking twenty questions which must be answered with either a yes or a no. If he correctly guesses the item then another person becomes the 'IT' and if he fails he continues for another game.

Duck Duck Goose

While playing this game have the children sit down while facing each other in a circle. They are thus 'Ducks'. One child is chosen to be the fox. The fox then moves around the circle tapping the children and calling them ducks. He/she taps one child and calls him a goose. The goose is supposed to chase the fox round the circle and try to tag him before he gets to the position the goose was seated. Should the fox succeed in sitting where the goose was seated then the fox becomes the goose and vice versa and the game starts over.
